East Bay Redlined: REDEFINED

NEIGHBORHOOD SOUND WALK

Location: Golden Gate Library, 5606 San Pablo Avenue & Temescal Creek Park

Saturday, October 8: Meet at the library parking lot to join the walking tour at 2pm

Join us for a dynamic afternoon of listening, learning, and poetry. New neighbor and sound artist Gabby Wen will share their latest soundscape about the impacts of redlining in the Golden Gate neighborhood. Gabby has created site-specific audio collages made solely from local field recordings and will lead a short, intentional walk from the Golden Gate Branch Library to Temescal Creek Park to listen closely to the sounds of the neighborhood.

This event is part of a larger project coordinated by Thingamajigs, “a genre-crossing arts organization that promotes music and other art forms created with made and found materials or alternate tuning systems.”
