Honoring and Celebrating the Unsung Fathers!

Join us for an unforgettable celebration of Black fatherhood at "Everyday is Black History - Honoring and Celebrating the Unsung Fathers" on June 23rd at Jasper P Driver Plaza! This annual Self Help Hunger program annual celebration uplifts the Black communities of Oakland and Berkeley, providing cultural enrichment and essential resources despite systemic challenges. This event will feature performances by local artists, crafts, food vendors and family activities.

With support from Berkeley Civic Arts, the HEAR HERE Community Billboard Truck is teaming up with SHHP to provide voice and visibility to unhoused neighbors’ experiences. We’ve been collaborating with the Self Help Hunger Community for the past several months, recording stories about family, gathering, reparations, sharing, and protecting - themes that invite people’s truth. We’ ll be premiering these powerful video stores on June 23rd. The HEAR HERE Community Billboard truck will tour these videos throughout Berkeley over the summer.  Check out our calendar to see when we’ll be out on the streets!
